- Joplin is commonly referred to as the “King of Ragtime.”
- Along with the dozens of ragtime pieces that he is more commonly famous for, he also wrote two operas and a ballet suite.
- Joplin’s music became somewhat forgotten after he died because of the increased popularity of Jazz. His music became popular again in the 1970’s after it began being used in movies.
